Absence and Make Up Lessons Policy for Horus Academy

Effective Date: August 2023

 

Notification Requirement

To ensure the smooth operation of our music school and to respect the time of both instructors and fellow students, we require that any absences be reported at least 24 hours in advance. This allows us to manage scheduling effectively and offer opportunities for make-up lessons when possible.

Absence with Advance Notice

If a student provides notice of their absence at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson, the following applies:

  • The missed lesson will be credited back to the student's school account.

  • The credited lesson can be rescheduled at a mutually convenient time between the student and the instructor.

Absence with Less than 24 Hours' Notice

In the event that a student notifies the school of their absence less than 24 hours before the lesson, or fails to attend without any notice (no-show), the following applies:

  • The student or parent is responsible for the full payment of the missed lesson.

  • No credit or make-up lesson will be offered for these absences.

Monthly Absence Limit

To maintain consistent progress and engagement in the music program, students are allowed no more than one absence per month. Exceptions may be granted for valid reasons, which include but are not limited to:

  • Traveling for family or personal reasons

  • Illness or medical appointments

  • Urgent personal or family matters

For absences exceeding the monthly limit, students or parents should communicate with the school administration to discuss their circumstances and explore possible accommodations.

Communication

  • Absences should be communicated through the designated school communication channels, such as phone or email.

  • Prompt and clear communication helps us ensure that all students receive the full benefit of their educational experience.
